Funky Bus Stops
Posted by Jeff Awesome in General Design on September 15th, 2009
Have you ever walked around town and just thought, damn bus stops are boring. I never did until now! I was on Urlesque and found some amazing bus shelters, they must make everyones day that little bit brighter when they have to sit and wait for the inevitably late bus.
This quicksilver sponsored bus stop is a bit of genius, nice advertising for them and a place for people to legally skate.
I think the idea for this one was just hmm we got some spare sofas and furniture, lets wang it in the bus shelter outside. Put a TV in it and bingo we don’t have to miss any GMTV when we leave the house to wait for the bus in the morning
Climate Change mania is making everyone try to be a bit more environmentally friendly (above) Good thing as well otherwise all bus stops will have to have air con like the one below.
The Bloomframe Flat Pack Balcony
Posted by Jeff Awesome in General Design on September 14th, 2009
Now this is the slickest window I have ever come across. The Bloomframe balcony is a window that folds outwards into a balcony at the touch of a button. It says it is designed for urban areas and housing that doesn’t have much room, which I don’t really understand because surely if they have the space to have it open as a balcony then why cant they just have an actual balcony? Don’t get me wrong it is very cool and I would definitely love to have one but only as a show off gadget type thing, instead of a normal boring rigid balcony.
I think they should try and fit one onto the side of a camper van. In fact I might make one and then start my own van hire company, I reckon if I could make it light enough to work I could make a mint! I wonder if Bloomframe would be interested in my idea…
Anyway have some pics and even a video of it working!
Zero Carbon Houses – A Reality By 2016
Posted by Jeff Awesome in General Design on September 10th, 2009
due to the new zero carbon homes scheme unveiled by the government recently to help combat global warming, the first houses have been built as a test to see how it could be achieved and more importantly how viable it will be money-wise. Here is an interesting video from the BBC that is worth a watch.
