Deckstool – Coolest Seat Ever!
Posted by Jeff Awesome in Interior Design on January 29th, 2010
In a world where recycling is a hot topic and everybody wants to save the world from the impacts of climate change, you can buy a lot of, what is basically old junk. But never has old junk looked more amazing than with Deckstool’s, made out of used broken skateboards they have got to be one of the coolest pieces of furniture ever! I’m not sure if it will be taking the place of my sofas just yet but it would make an awesome spare seat or foot stool.
You can check them out here and i suggest you do!
Art Legend – Pablo Picasso
Posted by Jeff Awesome in General Design on January 27th, 2010
One of the most widely recognised artists of the 20th century Pablo Picasso is a true art legend and because of his cubist stylings (a style that he co-founded) he is also, in my eyes, a design legend as well.
Born in Malaga, Spain in 1881 to middle class parents Picasso had a quite obvious step up into the art world than most as he was constantly pushed by his father who was also an artists and art lecturer. He left Spain at the age of 19 to live in Paris – the design capital of the time and that is when he really started to advance in his own style of painting – Cubism. And that is how the world came across such a unique talent and style in a time when the world was in the grip of war and hardship.
My favourite painting that Picasso did was his portrait of Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler from 1910. Picasso has said one of the main reason for his success was Kahnweiler’s love and recognition of his paintings, the picture itself is a crazy mix of what look like seperate images all jumbled and scrambled together. It is hard to believe something this off the wall came out in 1910!
Brightening Up A House With Flowers
Posted by Jeff Awesome in Interior Design on January 22nd, 2010
So a while back I did a post about ‘Flowers in a Bachelor Pad‘ and whether or not flowers were a suitable accessory to have in a male house. Now as you might recall I have recently moved house and I live with a friend, who is also male therefore our house has quite quickly become a very male place. Pictures of Rock Stars and women, guitars hung on the wall, an upright piano and a big TV make up the general decoration, it kind of looks like a cross between a tidy and well off student house and a mini rock stars house.
So basically pretty damn awesome!
However I do have a corner that is just begging for a plant of some kind to sit in it. Obviously it has to fit in with the ‘manly’ theme though so we will need something badass like a cactus or a Venus flytrap! Failing that we could do flowers but to make it manly have pictures of tattoo art style flowers or a shrine to the famous Gypsy Rose Lowrider.
To be honest though I’m sure I could just wait, its February 14th soon and because I am pretty damn amazing I am bound to get loads of valentines flowers and my house will be brimming full of the things then! Anybody who wants to give me a valentines gift feel free…
Also can somebody find me the ‘manliest’ plant available. Cheers!
