Top Ten Most Iconic Dresses
Posted by Jeff Awesome in General Design on September 22nd, 2010
A Recent online poll has announced the top ten most iconic dresses of the past fifty years and I have to say some of them are a bit of a shock!
This is the list
1. Geri Halliwell – Union Jack dress – 82%
2. Liz Hurley – Versace safety pin dress – 79%
3. Marilyn Monroe – White dress – 74%
4. Audrey Hepburn – Black dress and pearls in Breakfast at Tiffany’s – 67%
5. Lady Gaga – White outfit and wig worn to the Brit Awards – 63%
6. Diana, Princess of Wales – Wedding dress designed by The Emanuel’s – 58%
7. Kylie Minogue – Gold hot pants – 56%
8. Jennifer Lopez – Sheer green Versace dress worn to the Grammys – 53%
9. Björk – Swan dress worn to the Oscars – 49%
10. Cindy Crawford: Red Versace dress worn to the Oscars – 44%
I can fully understand the top three although how Geri Halliwell and Liz Hurley’s dresses are perceived to be more iconic than Marilyn Monroe’s white dress is beyond me!
My surprise comes at a lack of Posh Spices ‘Little Black Dress’ I always thought that was just as famous as most and surely Lady Gaga is too new to be iconic? Björk is the queen of being a little bit mental and wearing ridiculous things and for Lady Gaga to come above her is just wrong!
Geri Halliwell is probably feeling quite smug right now though because unlike most of the expensive designer and one off dresses on the list, Halliwell’s patriotic Union Jack dress was actually just a teatowel sewn onto a plain minidress!
The Ewok Eco Friendly Tree House
Posted by Jeff Awesome in General Design on September 22nd, 2010
So you are an eco friendly family who often worry about the effects of our oil guzzling lives and you want to move out of the city and into the forest. However to move out and live in the countryside surely means lots of building work and knocking down trees so you can build a new house, none of which is particularly good when it comes to trying to stop the effects of global climate change!

However a Canadian, called Tom Chudleigh, has designed an Ewok style tree house called the Free Spirit Sphere that will allow up to 4 people to go back to their childhood and live in a tree house! For $45,000 you can buy the wood and fiberglass pod and for $50,000 you can even get it furnished! The pods are suspended in trees and are accessible by a series of rope bridges however they don’t have any bathroom facilities so going to the toilet in the middle of the night could be potentially dangerous, trying to walk outside in the pitch black and suddenly realising you’re a fair few feet off the floor!

They do come with 4 built in beds, and a fully working kitchen sink that includes a refridgerator, sink and microwave. IT does look ‘cosy’ but if there was only two of you then I think it would be ideal. The designs are in the works for a bigger version that includes a bathroom and sauna as well and that should be amazing!
