Global Warming and Climate Change are constantly in the media these days, therefore ethical interior design has become a big thing. I was reading an article on The Times website that made an interesting point about this asking ‘what really is ethical these days?’ Every shop and there dog says they are ‘ethical’ but, really how can we know, the word gets bandied about so much that its starting to lose any real meaning.

I guess it depends on your own personal view of it, you could be ethical by only using brands that claim to be good, but if they are making the product in say, America and the shop you buy it from is in the UK surely that’s a lot of travel pollution that product has already created, which will lead to more global warming than a product made and sold locally.

The big companies, that are supposedly ethical, do put a lot of money and research into the whole climate change debacle so maybe it is good to support them. Who knows! all I do know is that the next time I’m looking for a new set of sheets for the bed or a set of curtains I will spend ages shopping around trying to decide how not to kill the environment that day.

Or maybe i’ll just give the money to charity and redesign what I already have. That would be ethical!
