The Cubic Houses Of Rotterdam

I can’t believe I have never come across these pictures before of the Cubic Houses project by Piet Blom that was built in 1982-1984. Fantastic looking buildings with each cube being one ‘house’ with 3 levels too it. The bottom triangle is the living area, the middle level is for the bedroom and bathroom and the top triangle is an extra bedroom or another living area.

I can’t help but think a design like this would be brilliant for a solar powered house because with the unique roofing style if you had solar panels on each part it would always have a part in the sun all the time during the day. This seems to be like a good idea. So not only would you be living in a brilliantly wonky little house but you would also be helping with global climate change as well!

So if you do find yourself booked up with flights to France or Germany, why not jump on a coach or hire a car and take a trip over to Rotterdam for some excellent site seeing!

Anyway have some pics of it…
